The "English Breakfast" blend is a popular combination of the gardens of Darjeeling and Assam. On the southern slopes of the Himalayas, near the town of Darjeeling, it is mostly women who pick the noble leaves of the Camellia sinensis, which are then processed into the tea of the same name. It is mountainous, foggy and cool, so the tea plant grows slowly and with smaller but more aromatic leaves. In contrast to the tea plantations in Assam in northeast India, where a river ensures fertile soil. Assam is the world's strongest tea producing region and the largest contiguous growing area. It even has its own time zone: "Tea Garden Time", which is one hour ahead of Indian Standard Time so that the workers on the plantations can start with the early sunrise.
