They now grow traditional coffee varieties, although many of them have also switched to organic farming.

In December 2023, our coffee expert Maxwell traveled to Colombia to better understand coffee growing countries. During this time, he met directly with resource centers, exporters and coffee farmers. Many relationships were formed along the way; one of them is Urbania Coffee's peace project in Medellin. Owned and operated by German-born Carl Kramer and local Ricardo Restrepo. Urbania takes a humanitarian approach to coffee by investing in smaller growing communities.
The purchase of this coffee supports farmers in the communities of Chaparral and Planadas. Until recently, this area was occupied by the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC). The rebel group's influence made it difficult for producers to work in the area, but finally, after a peace agreement was reached, the coffee farmers and their families were able to return to the area and grow coffee again.
They now grow traditional coffee varieties, although many of them have also switched to organic farming.
