10 tips to use your coffee grounds sensibly

Coffee grounds contain a variety of antioxidants that provide protection against free radicals. Free radicals are very aggressive and attack our cells. This can change our cell structure or, in the worst case, damage our cell function or DNA. The coffee grounds are full of effective ingredients and therefore far too valuable to end up in the garbage. Using the coffee grounds saves money and protects the environment. But what exactly can be done with the coffee grounds?

It is said that caffeine stimulates blood circulation and has a dehydrating effect. With a body peeling, this should lead to tightening of the connective tissue, gently removing dead skin and stimulating cell renewal.

Application:

  1. Mix the coffee brew with a little vegetable oil

  3. Let the coffee scrub on your skin for about 20 minutes

Coffee grounds as a hair treatment

The coffee hair treatment gives your hair shine, fullness and strength. The caffeine in the treatment promotes blood circulation in the scalp, which stimulates the hair roots and ultimately leads to hair growth.

Coffee grounds as fertilizer in the garden

Coffee ground contains nutrients such as nitrogen, potassium and phosphorus and can therefore be used as a fertilizer for many plants. Since coffee brew is slightly acidic, it is ideal for plants that need acidic soil. These include hydrangeas and rhododendrons, but the coffee grounds fertilizer is also well suited for natural plants such as cucumbers, tomatoes, zucchini, blueberries and strawberries.


Warning: Due to the tannic acid, not all plants like the coffee fertilizer. These include, for example, carrots, potatoes, garlic, asparagus, grapes, raspberries and elderberries.

The coffee brew should always be cool and dry so that the root ball doesn't get moldy. To do this, place it in an open vessel to air dry

Interesting to know: Many snails don't like caffeine and can therefore be kept away from vegetable beds with the coffee fertilizer.

Coffee grounds make scratches in wood disappear

The rest of the brewed coffee powder can also be reused in the household, because it can repair light scratches in dark wooden furniture.

Application:

  1. Moisten the coffee brew a little
  2. Apply it to the affected area with a cotton swab
  3. The coffee brew fills the scratches on the wooden furniture and the oils it contains seals it

How it works:


Put the fresh coffee grounds in a bowl and then put it in the fridge for one night. The surface of the coffee grounds absorbs the odor molecules and thereby neutralizes the smell.

Get rid of onion smell on hands

To get rid of the onion smell on your hands, rub your hands with coffee grounds and then rinse them off with water.

Coffee powder makes the smell of sweat in your shoes disappear

To get rid of the insects, you should light the dry coffee ground in a fireproof bowl. The rising odor is perceived as unpleasant for the insects. Humans, on the other hand, perceive the smell only faintly or even find it pleasant.

Coffee grounds reduce dark circles

Anyone who has ever slept badly and has to leave the house early knows it: dark circles under the eyes. But if you know how to use your coffee grounds, you will have fewer problems with them, because the caffeine it contains promotes blood circulation. Apply the coffee base under your eyes and let it work for 5-10 minutes. The caffeine constricts the blood vessels and draws fluid out of the swelling.

lip scrub

In summer and in winter, care for our lips is indispensable. Coffee brew contains oils that have an antibacterial effect and promote blood circulation in the lips and make them look fuller.

Recipe for the lip scrub:

  1. 1 tsp coffee grounds
  2. 1 tsp baking soda (alternatively you can use twitch)
  3. 1 tsp coconut oil


Mix the three ingredients together in a bowl, massage the peeling into the lips for 2-3 minutes and remove the peeling residue with warm water.

Use the product once a week and dry lips will be a thing of the past.

Empty the chimney with coffee grounds

With this tip, you use the coffee brew when it is warm and moist. Scatter the sentence on the ashes before you take them out of the chimney. The coffee ground can bind the dust and ash, which makes it much easier to empty the chimney because no dust is stirred up.
